Hi, I'mGaurav Chaulagain
Building AI products that turn complexity into clarity
AI-focused Product Manager with 3+ years of experience transforming research-level capabilities into intuitive, high-impact user experiences. I build 0β1 products, drive cross-functional execution, and measure what truly reflects value β not vanity.
About Me

Over the past 3+ years, Iβve built AI-powered assistants, scaled enterprise web platforms, and delivered workflow and reliability systems used across 18+ business environments. My work includes launching a 0β1 AI styling assistant in 11 weeks, improving task success by 28%, reducing workflow cycle time by 41%, and cutting deployment time by 87% through reliability automation.
Currently completing my Masterβs in Computer Science (graduating Dec 2025). I received the 'Best Use of Claude' award at Cal Hacks 12.0 for building an AI-driven eldercare companion focused on reasoning, safety, and trust. Outside of work, I mentor students in product and engineering and explore Oaklandβs coffee scene.
How I Think About Products
Four principles shaped by real outcomes from the products I've built
Start with the behavior, not the feature
Users rarely ask for features β they reveal patterns.
The job of a PM is to uncover the behavior underneath the request.
Real Example
When early users struggled with the AI styling assistant, the issue wasn't the model.
The issue was trust.
Designing fit rationales + confidence indicators improved task success by 28% and clarified how users interpreted AI outputs.
Key Principle
Solve the behavioral root cause, and features become obvious.
Reduce complexity until the product is inevitable
Complex systems are easy to build.
Simple systems that feel "obvious" to users are hard.
Real Example
A CMS workflow that spanned multiple teams took 8+ seconds to load, causing high drop-off and content bottlenecks.
By simplifying execution paths and improving performance to 2.5s, bounce rates dropped 22% and organic traffic rose 39%.
Key Principle
If users pause to think "what now?", the product isn't finished yet.
Measure what matters β not what is shiny
I avoid vanity metrics.
Instead, I focus on indicators that reflect user trust, workflow efficiency, reliability, and repeat behavior.
Real Example
Instead of tracking "clicks," I tracked:
- time to first successful task
- recovery from AI misinterpretations
- early-cohort retention after first 5 interactions
These signals shaped the roadmap more accurately than surface-level engagement.
Key Principle
Good metrics predict behavior; great metrics change the roadmap.
Build fast enough to learn, slow enough to be right
Speed matters β but only when paired with clarity and reliability.
Real Example
I shipped a 0β1 AI assistant MVP in 11 weeks, but paired the velocity with:
- evaluation frameworks
- transparent UX surfaces
- automated monitoring
- structured experimentation
This allowed the team to learn fast without compromising quality.
Key Principle
Momentum is a feature β but reliability is the requirement.
